In order to better understand where the new ANTIPSYCHOTIC treatment options fit in the pharmacological toolkit, we will review what treatments are currently available, including a rapid overview of conventional/typical agents and a deeper dive into atypical antipsychotics, including D2 partial agonists.
Categorize and compare the unique characteristics of newer treatments and how they may be utilized in daily practice.
Review each newer treatment based on the expected clinical utilization, highlighting:
mechanism of action
route of administration (oral, sublingual, IM, long-acting injectable)
typical dosage and titration schedule
switching and combining
common adverse events
usual treatment population
